Building Momentum: Our USAG National Congress Highlights

By Dr. Sigourney Weathers — All-In Gym Training Co.

“When you bring together people who believe in inclusion, the ideas multiply. The energy shifts. And the whole sport feels different.”

There’s something special about being in a room full of people who not only get your mission but are living it, growing it, and bringing it into their own corners of the gymnastics world.

That’s exactly what happened at USAG National Congress in New Orleans.

From the moment we arrived, it felt like our inclusive and adaptive gymnastics “family” was everywhere—old friends, new faces, and those we’d only connected with online until now. The conversations flowed, the ideas sparked, and the shared belief was clear: we can create a gymnastics culture where every athlete truly belongs.

Here are a few moments that stood out—and why they matter so much for the future of our sport.

Joy’s Adaptive Trampoline Session

When Joy took the trampoline to share her adaptive trampoline training, it was more than just a session—it was a window into what’s possible when we think beyond limits.

One of the biggest challenges gyms face is figuring out how to start working with athletes of all abilities when certain apparatus—like bars or beam—aren’t yet accessible.

Trampolines open a door that’s wide enough for everyone to walk (or roll) through. With the right approach, you can coach every single person on trampoline. It becomes a place where an athlete can move, explore, and build skills in ways that fit their body and nervous system.

Jill’s HUGS Presentation

Jill’s session on HUGS (Hope Unites Gymnastics with Special Athletes) had the room buzzing. Coaches wanted to know everything—how to get started, how to adapt routines, how to bring competition to athletes who’ve never been given that chance.

We’ve seen over and over that when gyms open this door, it changes not only the athletes’ experience, but the whole community’s.

Tumbl Trak & Adaptive Equipment

Some gyms don’t realize how much their equipment setup impacts who can participate. Tumbl Trak is changing that. Their designs make it easier to create an environment that supports sensory needs, adapts to different movement patters, and meets athletes exactly where they are.

Their products help you say “yes” more often—yes to participation, yes to confidence, yes to progress. And those “yes” moments? They’re what keeps athletes coming back.

Teagan from ABILITY Training Co.

Teagan and I have been growing our programs side-by-side for years—she in Canada, us in the US—and finally getting to connect in person was the best kind of full-circle moment.

We talked about the possibility of collaborating on an adaptive competition in the Northeast, and I can already picture the energy in the room.

Spending the Weekend with Stayc from Gymagination

If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like for inclusion to be built into a gym’s DNA, spend a day at Gymagination. Stayc has created a culture where diversity isn’t an afterthought—it’s the starting point.

Watching her staff and athletes in action is proof that inclusion isn’t just a philosophy—it’s a practice. Seeing her again, spending real time together, and talking about the work her gym continues to do reminded me that sustainable change is built one consistent, intentional choice at a time.

A Big Thank You to FlipBiz

Our gratitude wouldn’t be complete without mentioning FlipBiz, who shared their booth with us.

If you’re looking for a resource that gives your staff access to more than just inclusive and adaptive training, FlipBiz is it. Most of our courses are available there (though not all), alongside over 600+ videos covering recreational gymnastics, ninja, trampoline, and so much more.

It’s the perfect way to start building inclusive and adaptive programming while giving your team a library of tools for every program you offer.

Why This All Matters

Every connection, every conversation, every shared resource at Congress adds another piece to the foundation of making gymnastics more inclusive.

You don’t have to have it all figured out today. You don’t have to wait until your gym is “ready.” You just have to take the next step—whether that’s learning how to adapt trampoline, starting a HUGS program, rethinking your equipment setup, or diving into a platform like FlipBiz.

“The work you’re doing—whether it’s in one small class or across an entire program—is what will keep this movement growing.”

To everyone who came out to support us, and to those who are brand new to our tribe: thank you! The future of gymnastics is brighter because of you.
